Sweet Retreat #2

We stayed at the Sweet Retreat #2 June 10-17, 2023 and had a wonderful, comfortable stay. The house is well appointed and spacious. Kitchen was well stocked with things we needed (but no crock pot or griddle so bring your own if wanted). Screen porch and deck were great. Beach is a short ¼ mile walk. As former owners and renters of properties, we found it a great option and would absolutely come back again. Centrally located to New Buffalo (nightlife, shopping, beach), Sawyer/antiquing, and wine region. A few key notes that aren’t clearly listed - - this is a 2nd floor unit, accessible only by (uneven) flagstone walk, enclosed stairs to second floor, and assigned parking on other side of building (You can drop people at the front and shorten their walk). It could be a challenge for anyone with mobility issues. Also, the 2 bathrooms are on the “main” floor and not connected to any bedrooms or upstairs bunk room. Additionally, beach towels, chairs, bikes and a wagon were available. We had pretty crummy weather so we did not use the very close pool, but were happy to find puzzles and games to keep us busy. Easy walk to the beach, Black Currant Bakehouse (which we highly recommend), and overflow parking. Pizza from nearby Mario\'s was delicious (including a cauliflower GF crust option). We did our own wine tour of Round Barn, Tabor Hill, Baroda Founders, and Hickory Creek. Each had their own personality and style. There are so many wineries to choose from! If you want to be educated on the wines, I suggest you book a tour. We were just happy to do our own thing. But take a bit of advice from us. . . if you go to Michigan City, Indiana (20 min) remember it is on Central Time but if you go to Notre Dame (45 min) it is on Eastern Time. We time traveled a lot and never seemed to remember! Ha! Enjoy your stay!! p.s. I would actually give this unit 4.5 stars but that wasn\'t an option.
