Brewster’s Italian Cafe

A welcoming atmosphere with fireplace dining inside and heated garden dining outside. Brewster’s recreates a quiet Italian street cafe with a menu that changes every meal, but features soups, salads, pizza, pasta, assorted meat, and seafood. Brewster’s also has a great selection of wine and even a bakery with delicious baked goods.

  • 🐟BF Local Tip:  If dining for dinner, order the “Dinner for Two” option which provides you a sampling of their menu in 5 courses, including coffee and dessert.

David’s Delicatessen

David’s does coffee in the morning (Intelligentsia- fresh every week) and it’s great for those who want to sit and relax or those who need to be somewhere quickly. Their baristas are well-trained and almost all of them can pull off some serious latte art.  Bagels, fruit, pastries, breakfast sandwiches, Boar’s Head meat selection, sandwiches, salads and soups.

  • 🐟BF Local Tip:  In the afternoon they have sandwiches and deli salads- all home-made and with a majority of local ingredients. Their known for their ruebens- Classic (David’s), Georgia, Veggie (Salvadorian) and a weekly ever-changing Farmer’s Rueben using ingredients found only in Harbor Country.

Please note that it’s adult’s only after 8:00 pm.

Jackie’s Café

From the wonderful quiches and frittatas, to the chicken salad, buttery wonderfulness of her crumbly sugar cookies with lemon curd or raspberry preserves, and cheese cracker wafers, Jackie’s Café offers up a perfectly curated but small menu of comfort foods.  You will often see Jackie Shen in the back bakery.  She is a well-known Chicago chef from the Lincoln Park neighborhood.

  • 🐟BF Local Tip: Jackie’s offers a deli take out menu and has holiday catering menus available.  Be sure to stop in the bakery to pick up some pastries.

Nancy’s can be found on the corner, just a few hundred yards from the beach. They offer delicious burgers, hot dogs, fries, milkshakes, and a lot of popular ice cream flavors.

  • 🐟BF Local Tip:  This is the only authentic Chicago Dog in the area.  Also try one of their Strawberry Shakes blended with local, Michigan berries.

Stray Dog Bar and Grill

One of the best vibes in Harbor Country and a must if you are in the New Buffalo area.  With indoor/outdoor seating and a 21 and older rooftop deck with Lake Michigan and harbor views, Stray Dog can accommodate groups of all sizes.  Its menu is diverse and grass-fed beef options.

  • 🐟BF Local Tip:  Stray Dog has a “Call your Cell” check-in wait process that allows you to walk around town if there is a wait.  Looking for a refreshing drink? Try their cucumber martinis.  They are known for their grass-fed burgers and fish tacos. 

Oink’s Dutch Treat and Ice Cream Shoppe

The best ice cream and frozen yogurt in the area, Oinks is the place to be during the summer time. Oinks also has a candy and chocolate shop where everyone’s sweet tooth can be satisfied. Cash only.

Rios Mexican Grill

Although there are outdoor seating options, it is best to order at the window and carry out or go through the drive thru.  The Mexican food is authentic and fresh. Portions are large and can easily be shared. The offer tacos, burritos, tortas, carnitas and quesadillas with your choice of meat.  All salsas are made from scratch and are very flavorful.

Song Asian Cuisine

Song Asian Cuisine offers the most comprehensive menu of Asian food in Harbor Country! Chef Lei Song prepares popular Chinese dishes and masterful sushi and sashimi including a special Mango Lobster Roll at this family run business. Completely remodeled in 2015.

Terrace Room

Fireside, rustic Italian on the waterfront located inside the Harbor Grand Hotel.  The marina views and remodeled interior are outstanding.  Wine offerings and cocktails are spot on and the staff is very attentive.    Cookies are always served with a dark roasted coffee to follow your meal.

  • 🐟BF Local Tip: The outdoor terrace is inviting and open year round.  Dine al fresco in the warmer months, enjoy cocktails when it’s chilly.  Blankets are included.  For dining options, you must begin with the Balsamic Brussel sprouts with pancetta.  If you’re in the mood for seafood, the Rainbow Trout is prepared perfectly with brown butter, hazelnuts and sage.  

Villa Nova Pizzeria

Tired interior, but great for takeaway or delivery.  Villa Nova is known for their thin crust with fresh toppings.
